Cycle Colfax

Cycle Colfax will be back next year. In the interim, you may want to take some of the great rides in this area. Maps are below that were used in the May 4 Colfax Cycle ride. Contact SVCC if you would like to start a Colfax Cycle club for regular riding. Call Tim at 346-8726

Select your ride and information from the following main loop rides [scroll down to map]:

  1. Colfax to Alta/Drum Powerhouse on Bear River. PDF Google Map with comments. This is a 40+ mile loop with several thousand feet of elevation change, with spectacular views of the Bear River and American River watersheds. Many options can make this ride a perennial favorite. Ride can be easily shortened.
  2. Colfax to Iowa Hill across American River. PDF Google Map with comments. This is a 20+ mile ride, with steep grades on both sides, maybe fearsome grades on the Iowa Hill side. It only an 8 mile loop to the Iowa Hill bridge and back, but you will feel accomplished with over 1300 feet of elevation difference.
  3. Colfax to Meadow Vista. PDF Google Map with comments. There are two routes on either side of I-80. We recommend the Placer Hills Road route to Meadow Vista, and the Applegate/Weimar route to return.

Organizers have been riding these loops for three decades, and will be available to discuss the different options to help you have the best time possible. Maps will be provided. Please note that Sierra Vista will not provide support for the ride along the way, nor will provide a sag wagon. There are many stores, shops, and gas stations along the way, so you are never far from supplies or help if you need it. Come and enjoy your ride, and return to the community center for the celebration.
